i keep finding myself reminiscing about friends i've "dropped" along the way, maybe its cause here in the uk i've not made lots of new friends, i find the people of thurrock where i am, so...otherwise? (bar one or two) but back home in za, i had loads of friends, one of whom i dropped, she pretended to be a kind person, but she was shallow, but she was kind occasionally, but also painfully hard, so i dropped her. another friend in the uk, i was her little skivvy, when i asked her to move in cause i needed a place temporarily, she couldnt find a spare room in her 3 bed house (no kids) or her letting property...so, i blew it out, but i wonder if i coulda done it differently? do you have similar regrets, or is it just me :-/

de Klerk sold his people's birthrights??? oh my gosh, what a racist comment! He allowed Black people to vote for the first time in South African history, the colonizers had stolen land, its what they did isnt it? hardly their birthright!

People place different priorities the aspects of their lives. I value privacy and would hate to have anyone in the house with me. Maybe your ex-friend has similar thoughts although that would not explain her refusal to find you a room in her lodging house.
I visit a friend in Thurrock once a fortnight and it is certainly not the nicest part of England; I think that you must be missing the old country. Shame that de Klerk sold his peoples' birthright for a Nobel Prize.

Update 6th November.
Sorry, I should have said 'that traitor de Klerk'.
The best that I can remember the history of SA that I studied at school is that other than KwaZulu and parts of the Transvaal, the black population in the remainder of SA arrived about the same time as the Dutch settlers moved inland, leaving neither group with a right that takes precedence over the other.

People are shallow, afraid and, generally, after something. You have to accept them for what they are. Rather than drop them just like that, keep them at various distances - not too close to those of a scheming bent, but realising that they may have endearing moments.

I kinda know how you feel. I have had 1 bbf since we were 4. Now she has a boyfreind and acts all snobby with her other friends but when its just me and her shes pretty cool.

sounds like you have friends in order to use them. Just because they can't help doesn't mean you have to drop them
