I am a U.S. citizen and love my country but am coming to realize that I disagree with th actions and beliefs of my government. I would like someone to talk me into complacency so I no longer think my government is acting as a hypocrit.
Fact- the U.S. promotes equality and freedom
Fact- we are fighting war called Iraqie Freedom in hopes of their developing an equal free democratic society
Fact- we believe a country must defent themself from terrorist, war, etc.
Fact- Communism claims to be most equal of all governments weather or not they are
Fact- Nort Korea and USA have Nuclear Bombs
Why is it the USA is permitted to defend themselves with nuclear bombs but north Korea may not. Even if the leader is a whack job don't they have the fundamental rights of all people (protection) that we are trying to promote in Iraq. I don't like the idea of anyone having these bombs, but what makes America better? Why are the citizens of this country guaranteed protection? Are my facts wrong?

One slight correction: North Korea does NOT have nuclear bombs... they are attempting to 'develop' them.

As far as your question, you are absolutely correct.

Let's go over the chain of events.

-Dec 2001, Bush resigns from the ABT, anti-ballistic missile treaty, long range nuclear missiles.
- Jan 2002, in his state of the union speech, Bush declares Iran, Iraq and N.Korea on his AXIS OF EVIL.
- 2002, Bush states Iraq has WMD but UN inspectors clearly state they do not have enough evidence yet to confirm that.
- Feb 2003, Saddam goes on 60 Minutes and states to the world, I DO NOT HAVE WMDs
- 2003 Bush decides to ignore the UN and invade Iraq,
- 2003 N. Korea seeing the actions of Bush submits it's resignation from the NPT
- 2004 N.Korea declares to the world, it is going to be testing nuclear missiles soon

Now I ask you, who can blame N.Korea for wanting to protect itself from a country that left a nuclear missile treaty ABT clearly meaning they are going to start remaking them, delcared N.Korea as an enemy, then invaded a country against the world's advice?

Who wouldn't do exactly what N.Korea is doing now?

The innocence of your question is scary. The U.S. government 's hypocrisy is far reaching and fundamental. The US has been responsible for propping up and supporting many of the worstt regimes in the world. Its easy to forget that The US were once quite friendly with Sadam Hussein for example - selling him weapons no less (so much for Iraqi freedom then!)

Your facts are very questionable too.

The US does not promote 'freedom and equality'. It promotes its own interests at the expense of all others. The freedom and equality bit is propaganda to make US citizens feel better about the crimes being commited in their name throughout the world.

The War is called 'Iraqi Freedom' but do you really think that is what the governments aim is??! Wake up! If they called it "Grab middle-east oil resources from under Iraqi's noses killing anyone in our way whilst also INCREASING the danger from terrorism rather than reducing it", I guess not so many Americans would have backed it!

Of course the US should defend itself from terrorism but THERE WERE NO TERRORISTS IN IRAQ BEFORE THE INVASION!! Now there are thousands! I don't think the Iraq war was really anything to do with fighting terror - rather to promote the US 's oil interests.Thousands of American troops and hundreds of thousands of Iraqi citizens have died for this- a scandal!

Lastly, I find it odd that US citizens constantly have to assure everyone that they "love their country". Whats that got to do with anything? You should be able to speak freely without this OTT display of patriotism. Criticizing the government is the most patriotic thing you can do. It shows that you are keen to make your country even better.

The constant pressure to wear your patriotism on your sleeve, and not to criticize the government shows how much the propaganda of the US government is working on its own citizens. I'm in the UK. And as an ally of America its scary to see the US lose its way so much.

Nuremberg was an International trial which included prosecution teams and judges from the main allied powers-the Soviet Union, Great Britain, France and the United States. So at Nuremberg it was the United Nations that put the Germans on trial. The US trials were held at Dachau and involved Concentration camps liberated by US forces, war crimes against US prisoners. There certainly was an element of victor's justice, and certainly the Soviet Union was every bit as guilty of crimes against humanity and waging aggressive war (invasion of Finland and Poland). But to the victor go the spoils.

Fact we have dismantled most of our nuclear weapons. Fact we are trying to keep those who don't have them from causing problems with their neighbors. Fact half of the world looks up to us and the other half is jealous and wants our power. Fact if you had more money and power than your neighbors they would feel the same about you and you wouldn't give what you had away to your neighbors. The liberal news media pushes their agenda. They tell lie after lie and eventually it gets accepted as fact. If you are ashamed of what America has maybe you should move to Mexico and see how a country should be run (joke)

North Korea is communist and hates the U.S. The U.S. does not want its enemy to get a powerful weapon becuase it can harm not only the U.S. but many surrounding countries.

North Korea is not being threatened and has no need for nuclear weapons. China backs them. North Korea wouldn't be in danger unless China broke off from them.

The world has always manufactured hipocrites.

But you are mistaken about some of your assumptions.

Promoting equality and freedom does not require the government to supply it.

You are leaving out individual responsibility. America has always believed in the individual.

many good points. We feel we are a nation governed by laws, and less apt to have a radical government or dictator fire Nuclear weapons.

We have broken many of out own laws during this last administration, so the world is a more dangerous place.

We have revolutions through voting, and can change the direstion of our government.
