LOL To an American, Brits talk "funny." It's dialect and accents. The more you are around people of another region speaking English, the easier it will be for you to understand them. Be open-minded about it, relax, and you will find it a good experience.
I've learned that Brits call crackers biscuits, and pacifiers are dummies, and an apartment is a flat, among other things.
Good Luck!
Sue

Why Nigerians? Thier accents aint as much different than many other Africans. Make yourself clear. Do you have a problem with American and Nigerian people or just the way they speak?

Um, different countries have different accents, it's sort of the way things are...I wouldn't say they 'talk funny'. You didn't need any of those apostropohies by the way.
Oh and Sue, we call cookies biscuits, crackers are still crackers! Can you answer me a question - since Americans call jam (that you put in sandwiches) jelly, then what is the stuff you call jam? Confuses me so much!

Not really, I do find the Geordie accent and very broad Scott's accents hard to understand though.

Don't be surprised if these people felt the same way about your accent.
