Are there any legal music download sites that unlike itunes let use music on an ipod and other devices?

Please help i have an sony mp3 walkman and cd walkman from sony and i want to use music that you can buy from a trusted site example bestbuy that i can use on ipods and other devices. Thanks much.

Legal music is only when you pay for the song which is the most of the time not.
