Because they have DNA from BOTH parents. That is the point of sexual reproduction: mix so that each individual is a bit different, an experiement in optimisation, and has a little bit of both "successful' (since they were able to reproduce) parents.

Each parent has 23 chromosomes to offer to the gene.
They always pair up (so to speak) so that the new combined gene has 23 chromosomes from each parent.
The genes express the characteristics of the parent, say blue or green eyes can mix to give hazel co lour eyes.

because both parents conrtibute to the gene pool,
the charactristic traits of the child are either combine or mixed. maeks sense since the child is part of the mom and dad who had come together to produce it,
now if it was asexual reproduction, like plants, the child would come out as identifical to the single parent.

because the sperm has 50 % of the fathers DNA and the ovum (egg) has 50% of the mothers DNA, and When they combine you get a whole person
a process of cellular division called meiosis makes sure that the DNA in each egg and sperm are different, so tell your teacher it is because of meiosis.
Also because then the world would be incredibly boring and everyone would be a clone of one of their parents
P.S.
DNA is what decides your hair and eye color, height, and the way you look

Organisms reproduce merely their very own type and heavily resemble their dad and mom, by using fact it’s of their DNA, and it’s of their organic intuition to mate with their very own type, for this reason producing their very own type.
