I've seen sweatshirts with a small slit cut down from the neck and the sides of the hooded cut too, but I'm not sure if it was purchased that way or what.

no, just cut it.. it works better if you cut the sides of the hood, not down the neck. only cut about an inch and a half to two inches, since it will rip a little further on its own.

don't cut it... Pull on the sides of the hood until its stretched and comphy. To get it to lay down better, push the outside of the hood in, (while its down)and pull on the sides of the hood till its almost flat...

I wouldn't cut it at all. Just try to stretch it a little by pulling in the direction that you need more space.
Give the hoodie to someone smaller than you & buy yourself another one that feels better to you.'
