They can't help it . Most were brainwashed in school. The smart ones figure things out when they get in the real world. Who in their right mind wants more taxes, to kill unborn babies, but worries about other animals. Wants more government. The democrats in power are rich like Republicans only they pretend to care bout the poor . Only to get their votes.None of the democrats ideas today work.

No, they are electives.
There are other parties with a curriculum that requires hatred, though fortunately many individuals failed the hatred class and actually learned to be tolerant of others. Just as many individuals sadly failed the tolerance class in other curriculums.
As to ignorance, it's not a requirement for membership in any party, though it certainly seems to be a requirement for advancement in either party.
As a final matter, there are many liberals who are not Democrats, and many Democrats who are not liberals. Just as there are many conservatives who are not Republicans, and many Republicans who are not true conservatives. Don't assume that ideology always matches party lines.
