21 and in college...I have been secretly smoking for six months because I do not have the nerve to come right out and light one up in front of my friends...How do I do this...they would never suspect me smoking or believe I would...how to break the ice?

Either quit,Or just light one up.If you don't make it a big deal,They probably won't either. If you're too concerned about what others would say about your habit, then just quit while you're still new and you're not so dependant on them damn things. But,If you're dead set on smoking then just tell them you've been stressed lately and you only have one when you're about to loose it.

Sally, I have been there before myself. It was a little harder for me because I played sports, but I hope these tips can help you. Make sure the atmosphere with you and your friends is relaxed. Late night bars are good for this since they allow smoking. The more crowded the better. You do not have to light up in front of them. In fact be already lit. Let them see you hold it for a while keeping using proper style of course. Let them see you tap your ashes. Get these machanics down solid to build your confidance. Then go for short drags. Always tilt head slightly and away to exhale. Stay poised. and when they say anything, just tell them it's your new lifestlye choice. Some of your friends may be disappointed, but if they are true friends, they will come around to accepting you as a smoker. You dont want attention just respect. After a few cigarettes, then you can go for the light up in front of them. Again, stay poised, remeber you've done thise hundreds of times already. Cup your hands the first few times to get the lighter to the end. After this you will be confidant enough to just reach for a cigarette and your lighter and do it all in one swift motion, bringing the lighter to the end and flixing it with ease. Good, luck and let me know how it goes.

so....you are in a hurry to die? Don't you know what cigarrate smokes do to your body. YOu will age quickly. You will compermise every part of your health.

I would say you need new friends or maybe you shouldn't have any friends until you can fallow your own heart and not fallow a group of friends and lose your own identity.

This is part of growing up. Don't be a woose and fallow a crowd who thinks they are grown up and cool by smoking

Just lite up, or announce first "I'm going for a smoke". When your buds freak out look astonished and say "like, whats the big deal, so I smoke". Lol
OR
Just don't smoke.

Well...They may know your smoking already. When you smoke your clothes have the thick fragrance of cigarette smoke. But honestly? Don't smoke. My parents have since I was born, and I worry day to day about lung cancer for them AND me. You can hurt your friends with second hand smoking. But please, your young and you still have time to stop. I doubt you'll take this piece of advice from me, but smoking can ruin your life. Smoking killed my Grandpa...

It is not your friends' business, so you have no reason getting embarassed. If one of your friends is a smoker, toss him a cigarette and light up together. This is one way of "breaking the ice".

Geez, you're in college and you are still stupid enough to start smoking?. . . . . Grow Up, if you want to kill yourself then have enough backbone to let your friends see you do it!! Haven't you heard "SMOKING KILLS!!"
I'd be more embarrassed about my friends finding out that I was so dumb as to start smoking in the first place!!

how about this....stop smoking. it will kill your lungs, yellow your teeth, and make you require oxygen if you make it into your 50's. i quit, and I couldn't be happier for it. my sister in law was just diagnosed with full blown emphysema and she is only 40 years old....now if she is lucky she will see her grandkids enter kindergarten rather than attend their college graduations. you are in college and obviously intelligent...so put down the cancer sticks and pick up your self worth.
