at the end of the shing when jack nicklson frezzes why is he in the picture at the end ? this has been bothiering my mum and gran for years noe its bugging my please help

Because evryone who gets caught by the spell of the overlook hotel, like Lloyd the bartender and the previous caretakers twin daughters is after their demise subsequently implanted into the history of the hotel, they become immoratal, made so by the wickedness of the hotel, or something like that

And Sorcha is totally right, the movie and the book had a different end, the book is a hell of a lot scarier, but i was 14 when I read it.
The hotel blows up at the end of the book, that was possibly a bit expensive for hollywood back in the days when that was produced

Yes I agree with holmegirl :) When you die in the Overlook you become part of the haunting. (Isn't it kind of obvious though?) Also if you read the Stephen King novel you'll find out that the movie had the wrong ending.
