You can't, it's a movie :-) Or if you can, we don't know about it yet. What they are trying to capture is the idea of different time/space dimensions. There's a theory that there are mutliple dimensions of existence and that there really is no past, present, future--- it's all the same thing, our awareness of it just changes depending on what dimension we are in. In this movie, the lake house is supposed to have magical powers that can transcend dimensions and allow people to communicate across them.

I've lived 2¾ apart from my wife and will continue to do so until invited back into my family... We have 3 daughters she allows to visit me...
