probably. i would then seal the metal with 2 thin coats of Rustseal so rust doesn't return...a Sandblasted surface is the best surface for RustSeal....topcoat with any paint system if you don't like the Rustseal colors...their gloss black looks very rich, wet & shiny and the satin is rich in color but more low luster. Also comes in silver, grey & clear.

Thats the better mechanical way to remove the paint and rust of any metal but also exists others like chemical

I've had good success using a product called Zip Strip.
It is a chemical remover. I haven't sandblasted any metals as I've heard this could cause weakening.

Chemical stripping is the easiest on the metal.

Sandblasting is quicker, but you will need to have an experienced person doing it. You can damage a metal piece VERY quickly if you don't know what you are doing. They will also need to know which media to use for the application. Too coarse will leave waves.

Depends on how old the bed is and how well you need to restore it! There are non-toxic chemicals you can use to do the same thing and not have to worry about wearing away the metal.
