Why do so many people on both side of the political spectrum say they love their country, but then turn around and help to divide it? Red states vs. Blue states....Conservative vs. Liberal.....Democrat vs. Republican....American vs. American.... Let's stop acting like were rooting for a sporting event and start electing people that want to improve our nation.

Because too many people sadly only love their version of what the country is or should be. They have no respect for differing opinions, so they deride and scoff at such opinions.

Listening to others takes time and effort, as does rationally thinking about issues rather than just reacting emotionally. Too many people don't want to put the time and effort into the process.

Rational discussion, respect for differences, ability to compromise -- these are all essential components of any functioning democracy. Sadly, we're rapidly falling into the dysfunctional category, because of partisan hatred.

I understand your argument but I have to admit, that is a hard call...

Karl Rove has intentionally, and he has stated this, since the 70s used prejudicial issues as campaign tools. He has been quoted as saying if you can motivate a person's prejudices then you can get them to vote based on those prejudices and forget about all other issues. Btw, his favorite prejudicial issue is gay rights.

My point is:
When we have ppl like that literally feeding us this kind of negativity in order to manipulate us, how are we not suppose to be at each other's throats?

Try listening to political talk radio sometime... OMG that stuff is the worst mess of spin, propaganda and HATE + BLAME others crap I have ever listen to in my life.

Anyways, good question but until we realize that we are being purposely manipulated and taught to hate each other, we will never fix this.

Both sides believe they are. Each side thinks they know how to improve our nation.

Not too many Americans want America to fall

getting rid of all liberals would solve 80% of the problem . they are the ones creating movies trying to convince us our government is out to kill us , convincing young children to put up websites stating they want to kill bush , and many other hate motivated scenarios . liberals are attempting to divide this country and are doing an outstanding job

Do you have parents? Did they always love you the same way?

The debate is healthy because it requires people to think.
