For the same reason they profess so much support for our troops in the field but disdain them when they end up needing help when they get home. I recall seeing a report that for much of the '80's amd 90's, a huge percentage of the homeless were former vets dealing with psychological issues related to combat in Vietnam. Did you see the conservatives directing resources to help them? No. They kicked people out of psychological hospitals and homes under the pretext of integrating them into their communities and then cut funding to the very community programs intended to help them. The result, thousands were left homeless.

Now they're at it again waiving the flag and protesting their patriotism. Mark my words. Ten years from now, a significant portion of the homeless will be vets of the Iraq and Afghanistan conflcts.

They hope to find the money for the war by cutting social programs, instead of asking their rich friends to make sacrifices. Bush has had things easy all his life and the notion of making a sacrifice is alien to him.

Conservatives do not care about the military. They like the money that comes with fighting wars as long as they don't have to fight themselves.

Lowering taxes actually increased the tax revenue. If you could read you would have figured that out.
