I don't quite understand why people remember to attack Madonna for whatever reason when they didnt really get bothered with Angelina Jolie adopting kids... I think she may be jumping the queue more than anyone.... for that she deserves a medal.

It is not the adoption that is the question but the methods she may have employed. The controversy arises when the birth father steps forward to say he "accidentally" gave up has parental rights for a "fee". The other concern is the speed in which she was able to accomplish this feat. The thing that is being overlooked by our generous media is the child's extreme illness-the reason for her rush. This child was at extreme risk and the higher the risk the higher the need. I applaud Madonna for being courageous and once again saying to he.. with convention. BRAVA! Madonna I hope she inspires others to help out and make a difference in these countries where intervention can literally make the difference between life and death.

Because Madonna is just jumping on the latest Hollywood fad - Angelina has done it, so now it's the 'in' thing to do. Lets face it, if Madonna was not a spoilt celebrity, knowing her depraved background - would she even be considered a fit mother to adopt?? - I don't think so. Also, who says she will provide this child with a loving, secure environment - celebrities don't look after their children - nannies do!!! They like to talk now about their children (they never mentioned them years ago), but you can be sure they aren't up at 3am in the morning, changing and feeding them! That is the nannies job. This little boy is African, and he should be with his own people - who says that just because Madonna can buy him fancy clothes, and send him to fancy schools that this is the best life for him?? Many children of celebrities lead spoilt lives, too much money, too much alcohol and drugs - what is great about that?? Madonna has jumped the queue, because of who she is, and how much money she has - she is an ugly, rich, controlling 'woman', and thinks the world should hand her whatever she wants, on a silver platter - also, her 'pommy' accent sounds pathetic - she now wishes to appear the 'lady', even though the world knows what an old tramp she really is!!! Poor bub should be back with his father, regardless of the lack of money, because that is where he belongs, and where he will most probably be most happy - she should just sponsor him and his village, and leave the 'theatre' to Angelina!

The issue is that even though she may be giving him a new life and home, she's also taking him from his native culture and belief. Personally, I don't have a problem with it, because, technically, he will be living in a "better" environment, but it's almost considered a false life, if you will. Do you know what I mean? Plus, it's too ironic that all of the sudden Madonna wants to adopt a foreign child, as that is what Angelina Jolie has been doing. Re-inventing someone else's life isn't such a hot idea; especially if you're just doing it to get attention and re-invent yourself.

Madonna's adoption is not a true adoption. The baby has living relatives and family. She's doing it to keep up with the Pitts....(Joneses) If she truly meant to be a concerned parent she could of done this on her own, good will. She sees the publicity it's getting and decided to cash in for her own recognition.

Because, like everything else she has ever done in her pathetic life, she is doing it for the publicity; she wants to prove to the world that she is now a sweet and kind motherly type. What a bunch of crap. She's still the same attention ho she's always been. She jumped the queue by throwing money at poor, desperate people. She is going to turn that child into a clone of herself. I truly feel sorry for the poor kid.

The criticism is not so much the adoption itself--although there is a criticism that it seems to be the "in" thing to do for movie stars and other celebrities. I also think there is a resentment of the "noblesse oblige" attitudes displayed and even some resentment of the fact that she had to go to Africa to do this, when there are plenty of adoptable children in England/Scotland, wherever she's hanging her hat.

The main cricicism seems to stem from her being able to do it faster than anybody else could--i.e. her star status and money has allowed her to bypass the usual "hurtles" or steps in place to do it legally.

Why should she get special treatment for her adoption, when many couples have to wait years to accomplish it?

Are you saying it's OK for a person to use another government to take a child away from their father, for the sake of satisfying her ego. And I am not too sure that picking a kid out of a line up is the best way to make sure the kid is gonna get the proper emotional care he needs either.
Perhaps somebody should take you away from your family, in the name of giving you a better life,( a term that is based on perception) Material things do not guarantee a better life,And as Madonna her self said, she barely ever has time to spend time with them, cause she has "so many other things i want to do".
I pity your kids, if you ever have any.

It's a Media thing, it has put her back in the limelight like Janet Jackson and the boob. You must know that it is not Madonna who will bring the child up. It will be her various servants. If she wanted to adopt then she should have looked closer to home. there are plenty in the US that need adoption and why choose the UK, we have got enough immigrants of our own.

I was one of them criticizing her, because I read in the newspaper where the father of the boy did not understand, that he was giving his son to her forever,Being of little education It bothered me to think that maybe the authorities had him sign something he did not understand.
Then I watched 20/20 on TV with Madonna and after hearing her and also hearing the Father say he was for this, I felt better. Yes I know that she could give him everything, I just wanted to know that it was being done the correct way.

Since she is a big star and has tons of cash she has basically been able to adopt this kid lightning fast and without all the due process that you or I would have to go through. Just because you're rich doesn't mean you shouldn't have to follow laws and procedures like everyone else in the world.
