SSI is not Social Security. It is disability benefits. Therefore you must report any income coming into the household, whether it be from your spouse or even a child.
Yes, any income will lower your benefit check. But look on the bright side, your spouse could bring in much more money from employment, than you can with SSI benefits.

I do not recommend lying to the government, claiming that you and your spouse are separated, just to get a couple hundred dollars. If you get caught, you will have to return all benefit money that you recieved within 30 days. Plus pay a fine. And depending on your state, you could do jail time for defrauding the government.

It depends what type of SSI you are getting - are you getting disabiliy or retirement?

If she goes back to work her income is considered your income and it will affect your SSI benefits.

yes it will my parents are in the same boat....my mother says that they are seperated and that she don't see him.....and that he gives her money from time to time but not all the time....and maybe you could set up a different account and when you get your ssi you could deposit in to your guyses account that away she don't think your holding any thing away from her....but for your sake with the government tell them that she no longer lives with you...its not like the olden days where the worker comes to your house to check.....my mother still gets her check...and she is disabled....so its the same thing....good luck
