Somewhere along the line, people are going to become aware ; this is not something that can be corrected by man.. It is a cyclic event and has occurred several times in the past.. It doesn't take a lot of reading to discover this fact.... rather than listening to the "Sky is falling" cry of some. The ozone hole sort of closed up during last winter... didn't make the media much.. so this bit of information has become the misinformation being fed to the public, by the media and others who seem to have some agenda.
Some need to check the records of the past to make a determination as to hotter summers and colder winters.. They may have shifted a bit in various continents but, one has to take into account the polar shift of 5 degrees, which occurred just last year. That did hit the media one time.
As far as the book by Al Gore, just think of him being in the same classification as Kerry. Again, there is some agenda, to continue to have these people on the stump... Mostly, knocking America.

The signs I see in upper MI would suggest global warming. We don't get the snow in winter like we used to and now we are seeing 90 plus degree days in summer. When I came here 20 years ago, we would have about 6 inches or more of snow by the second week of November and by Christmas, the snow would be up to the roofs of houses. I never saw a day any warmer than 80 degrees in summer and that was in August. Now we are lucky to have a white Christmas at all and the summers keep getting hotter. In late July 06, we had a few heat index warnings which is like seeing hell freeze over. This could be just a cycle and in a few years, the heavy snow will come back and the summers cool off. Contrary to the opinion of the sassy young pups I work with, I have not lived long enough to see these warming and cooling cycles that the earth goes through. I lean toward believing there is a global warming and that is because of the pollution from burning fossil fuels, increasing human population and from humanity messing with nature like building dams, paving everything with concrete and killing off species of wildlife.

There are recurrent shifts in the temperature of Earth. To think it is caused by man is dramatic grandiosity. To think that we can change the shift is dramatic grandiosity. For perspective read Michael Crichton's book, "State of Fear' and, even though it is centered around a story of fiction, you can learn the introductory facts about the difference between science and computer generated models. The media is using this issue to scare us and make money. Twenty years ago the money making scare was global winter and not long after that the population explosion. Why isn't deforestation front page anymore?

Fact, obviously. And the proof for it mounts every single day. And even if it WAS a natural occurance (which it is not) we STILL need ot get rid of fossil fuels because global warming will kill us all in the long run and we need to atleast slow it down even if we cannot stop it so that we give ourselves more time to find possible fixes.

Global warming is an established fact. 15,000 years ago glaciers covered most of northern Europe and North America. They've been receding ever since. The question is whether human activity is a contributing factor or is coincidental with an ongoing natural process.

Fact... Not because of fossil fuels but because we cut down all the trees. Forestry is the problem not oil and gas And I work in oil and Gas. With no fewer trees acting as carbon filters we cannot continue burning fossil fuels,

It's happening, but not for the reasons we are given. Mankind is incapable of doing as much damage as envirowackos claim. A single volcano outperforms all of mankind in a matter of hours. Nevertheless, cleaning up after ourselves is just good stewardship.
