masturbation isn't a bad thing. i can't understand the conspiracy.... masturbation is NORMAL and everyone does it i don't care what they claim.

don't bother them mind your own business. don't be a hypocrite.

it's healthy, promotes the release of endorphins and helps ease tension in the body along with also releasing toxins from the body too....

grow UP!

what would you have them do? have sex? unprotected? i don't understand what the dire emotional disorder is.

it's sick to think that people think such a way about a natural act. some make masturbation out to be evil then the child gets bent about the whole thing and instead has intercourse with another then there's pregnancy, burden, disease... other.

mind your own business... it's like you don't do it yourself?

since when is 12 early? my god on average most start at age 8.

i see the immaturity factor is still a danger this day and age.. when will we ever learn.

It's different for each person when they start masturbating. It depends upon how fast they sexually mature. For some people it's as young as 10 years old, for others it's as old as 18. Some people never masturbate in their whole lives, but that's uncommon, most people do but won't admit it. I think I started somewhere around age 12 myself.

Masturbation is only a problem if it makes your friend feel bad, or if he or she does so in public or talks about it and makes you feel uncomfortable. It is his or her choice to do it, but if you don't want to hear about it then tell your friend so.

If you'd like more advice, ask your school's guidance counsellor or an older relative or friend. If you are part of a religious group, do not expect your pastor to be sympathetic, as most religions are against masturbation.

Good luck!

I am a nanny and I am nannying a 3 1/2 and 5 1/2 girls who we have had to have the talk that you don't touch there unless you are all by yourself in your bedroom with the door closed and you don't tell people that you do it because it is for you to know that little secret. so trust me it is normal

Children as young as 5 can figure out what feels good and may begin masturbating at that age. Masturbation is ones personal activity there is no age limit on it.

He/She is just doing it because it feels good. Even babies do it sometimes. It's nothing to worry about.

And just in case you weren't clear on your definitions - masturbation involves touching your OWN body, not someone else's. So it's really nobody else's business. I'm just clearing that up for you, because I think when I was that age I did not know what the word meant.

That starts with puberty for many young people. Once it hits some of them have trouble dealing with the hormone changes. It should pass.

Its sad to think of a 12 years old already thinking anything about sex. That should be the last thing on their mind. Though I know it's starting to be younger and younger now. Lord help us parents.

No, it's not too young. Some babies and toddlers masturbate... it all depends on what age the person figures out that it feels good.

It's not too young, that's actually a very normal age. I wouldn't be concerned.
