It's hardly a failure. By the end of the year 50% of Iraq will be in the hands of the Iraqi government with over 500,000 trained police and soldiers. By the first or second quarter of next year, probably 75% of Iraq would be under Iraqi control. By the end of 2007 or the begining of 2008 100% of Iraq would be turned over. Also note that Iraq has a democratically elected government now. What has the opponents gained? They haven't gained land, power or influence.

The strategy has always been:

1. Invade Iraq somehow, even if we have to lie about it.
2. Spend billions with no accountability thereby creating the biggest sink-hole of money ever created and funnel all of that money to a handful of ultra-rich Americans.
3. Sustain that sink-hole of money for a long as possible.

The goal has always been the Reverse Robin Hood Theory. Steal from the poor and give to the rich.
