why do republicans try bringing back up the kennedy accident that happened over 30 yrs ago?

ps i am not one of ted kennedy's constituents so it really doesnt have any bearing on me and im sure you arent either. The people he represents both republican and democrat like him and thats all that matters.

Just because it sounds so awful and it's hard for people today to believe that people back then weren't prosecuted for any accident that had to do with drunk driving. Or drunkenness in general. If ANYONE back then had been arrested for exactly what he did, we would have thought the law crazy. My husband had a friend who accidentally shot and killed a friend at a drunken party where they were playing with an unloaded gun that got loaded. Nobody went to jail-that's just the way it was back then.
Seems like Republicans are trying to keep their party angry at Dems and ignore what's really happening in their party.

i am a republican and never understood this either. it usually just comes up when he comes up and is just kind of a topical joke. but personally i have never gotten it. what are they accusing him of anyway, being evil Knievel and flipping his car off of a bridge performing a Houdini escape and swimming like mark spits to safety in order to kill someone? if so he should be a super spy. im no fan of his but i have always thought that this is unfair.
