First of all what makes a terrorist group? Last I looked PETA and Greenpeace were at the top of the list. any radical group that is willing to cause harm to others for there beliefs is a terrorist. there are almost a thousand extremist groups world wide causing problems daily. Now onto Islamic Jihad, Go back to the origins of the word assassin.
For those dissing my commander in chief, I will do my job proudly till justice is ours for September 11th and for every other attack by these radicals. I am proud of our infidel ways, I believe in Sam Walton super centers, Mc Donalds, and Levis 501s.
The Al Qaeda have been responsible for the attacks on the embassies of east Africa, and the Oklahoma city bombing
Sunnis are the largest of the Islamic organization with shia following second. Both have a "struggle" to rid the world of anyone who is not Islamic.
also, I want to add that not all Muslims are radical extremists bent on destroying the infidel

This is kind of like asking who are the politicians, the Democrats or Republicans. Terrorists claim to be on either side fighting for both sides (likke the politicans) but the majority of the people are innocent bystandards force into one group or annother like you my be asked if you are a democrat or republican. The 'bad guys' are on both sides but are just a tiny percent of people. It is important to remember though that there is a feeling of animosity between the groups, not even just the bad guys.

The Sunni Muslims tend to be the more extremist group of Islam. They believe in the fundamental principles of Islam and the Koran, however they interpret it to the extreme.
The Christian equivalent would be the Amish or Apostolic groups.

i thought 3 times before i answered this and i still say there are terrorists on both sides. and this also depends on the definition of a terrorist.
the ones who kill innocent people are terrorists, but how could you call the freedom fighters in Iraq who try to fight the occupation terrorists?!!!
if the US gets invaded will you sit home and watch TV? or are you gonna go out and fight the invaders? and when you fight the invaders to the enemy you'll be called a TERRORIST.
"one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter"

Well, its difficult to say which of them, but Sunnis tend to be more conservative, like the taliban are Sunnis and Saddam was a Shia.

the terrorists are the ones who invade a sovereign nation on a pretext of saving the people from themselves.
Have we not entered into another useless Crusade?

Terrorists, as suggested by your question, are those who were forced to do what they do because of the USA's Imperialistic one-sided policies but mostly because of the utmost stupid chief terrorist himself BUSH!
