To BlairBear... Sean Connery is Scottish, not a Brit.
Diddy couldn't act his way out of a paper bag.
I don't think it matters what color Bond is as long as he can act and at least fake the british accent.

as long as Bond remains british, i do no longer care what coloration he's. this is a british character that supplies James Bond his allure, that could nevertheless be achieved via a black guy. P-diddy is loopy if he thinks he can play James Bond, he's no longer even on the fringe of the clever and state-of-the-paintings Bonds of the previous.

HAS Combs, Sean Combs done any acting ?? Other than bit parts in films like"Monster Ball" & "Death of a Dynasty"... I don't think he's qualified.
I don't know who has the rights to the Bond films... I know that there is a fairly extensive search for the actors they've used as "Bond". Then again, Diddy has money and might be able to BUY his way into a production.
Then again, it's PERFECT for P. Diddy... take someone else's work, sample it, and try and pass it off as original !!
N***** PLEASE !!

I don't think it has so much to do with the color barrier as it has to do with respect towards Ian Fleming, the creator of James Bond.
You can't just all of a sudden change the ethnic backgrounds of famous characters. Where would it stop?
We'd have a black guy playing Sherlock Holmes, a white guy playing John Shaft, a Chinese guy playing Superman, and a Hispanic playing the Last Samurai?
Respect for peoples' intellectual property.

James Bond whole character is strongly based on the fact that he's british. Diddy is just too smooth to play the part.

I really don't think color should matter. I mean it's not like something like that hasn't been done already. Michael Clarke Duncan played The Kingpin in Daredevil and Bernie Mac played Bosley in Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle and the reversed happened in Spawn where D.B. Sweeney (a white guy) played Terry Fitzgerald ( a character that was black in the comics).

The author of the 007 books, Ian Fleming, describes his characters as classy white british men. Not middle aged black rappers.

i don't think its a good idea the character Bond is British.
this would be like Sean Connery or Peirce Bronson playing Malcom X. not a good idea.
to everyone here Scotland is part of Great Britain, so are the countries Wales, Northern Ireland, and England. so they are all considered British.

Diddy could pull it off just as good as some of the previous Bonds (Brosnan and Dalton were definitely not two of the better Bond actors). He can pull it off because he has the style and the class and let's face it -- the Bond thing has grown stale. It would be nice to see it taken to another level. Go Diddy!

Well, they may as well. The 007 series has already been screwed all to hell with Casino Royal. Supposed to be Bond before he got his 00 status as far as I know, however, they forgot to date all the other characters back as well.
