i have bought a new dress for new years eve. it is black velveteen, long sleeved, and to the floor. i already have shoes and a purse to match it.
my question is jewelery. i have short hair, and was wondering what type of jewelery (necklace and earrings) you would suggest.

I agree with the first guy. Pearls are classic. You'll look gorgeous. Simple pearl necklace and maybe pearl earrings. Good luck!!

Get jewellery that matches any buckles on the shoes and bag {regarding silver or gold}. You can break up the solid black with something that stands out. Perhaps a chunky necklace or one with bright colouring. The earrings would be a little more understated but would match the necklace. I would get an interesting silver necklace: one with a lot of detail, and short drop earrings.

Pearls are a good idea but you can get diamond-like stones set in silver that would also sparkle. I guess it depends on the kind of party you're going to. Pearls are "classy".
Wear the necklace fairly long so it shows off the dress and the length of the earring s should depend on the length of your neck. If you have a short neck don't ewear long dangly earrings.

I would get some awesome chadelier earrings, preferably silver if that matches your purse. If the earrings are big enough, I would leave the neck bare (don't want to over do it). Another option would be to find a cute jeweled brooch and incorporate it either into your hair (pull one side back behind ear and clip with bobby pin, fasten brooch into hair above bobby pin) or the neckline of your dress (this would work well with a deep v neckline).

For a classic beauty look may I suggest chandelier silver earings and a classic silver drop necklace with diamond accents. Or you could go gold depending on the purse and shoes, and your personally tastes, but I love black with silver and diamond jewelry. Good luck and Look gorgeous!!!
