First, your underlying facts are wrong. The Patriot Act passed 98 to 1 in the Senate, and 357 to 66 in the House. So, most Democracts by far voted in favor of the Patriot Act.

Second, you assume that the Patriot Act actually made it more difficult for terrorists to attack the USA. This might be true, since some of the provisions allowed for better intelligence sharing between departments.

But there were also lots of other provisions that have shown no benefit in fighting terrorism, and if you look at the voting records of the 67 people who voted against the Act (67 out of 535), most of those were objecting to other parts of the bill that were unrelated to foreign intelligence gathering and information sharing.

History has shown that the safest country is alway one ruled by a dictator, with no freedoms and no civil rights. But that doesn't (or shouldn't) describe the USA.

Bush administration posted detailed plans on how build
a nuclear weapon on the Internet!!!

Under political pressure from Republicans Bush posted many documents captured in the Iraq war ON THE WEB to help make the case that there was justification for Bush's war. In those documents were VERY DETAILED plans to build nuclear weapons from before 1991 when Saddam was his buddy.

Last night (11/3/06) the White House finally shut down the web site after the New York Times asked about complaints from weapons experts that Bush was giving nuclear weapons plans to the terrorists.

The weapons experts were shocked by the public disclosures. Bush talks about fighting a war on terrorism yet he gives terrorists the most detailed a-bomb plans that have ever been published.

How could they put nuclear plans on the Internet without knowing that they were there?
The Republicans are putting the safety of the world at risk for pure political purposes.

And you say the liberals are making it easier!!!
At least we're NOT putting detailed info on the Internet...
DUH!

Duh......the real attack didn't happen until the Reps took over, and they stopped the CIA from getting to the perpetrator. The CIA was right at his hiding out camp. They could have taken the perpetrator out if only they were given half the chance. The CIA was on this guy for a long time. But they got stopped, and only 6 months after that 9/11 happened. Go figure. Good enough no?

Well, thank goodness they did...ours voted for it and he WILL NOT be getting my vote on Tuesday.

Do you REALLY understand what the Patriot Act is? It means that if they think you are a terrorist they can put you in jail and not let anyone know where you are. It doesnt matter if you think you dont do anything wrong, it matters if THEY think you are a terrorist or did something wrong. Do you really want the gov't spying on you watching you while you eat dinner? Because that is what it is coming down to. This is how it was in Germany in the days before WW2. History is repeating itself.

When it was first passed in 2001, only two voted against it.

However, when it came up for a vote on the renewal, many realized the draconian measures it allowed and, while agreeing with some of its provisions, were unwilling to allow the worst of them to pass.

And it's not making it easier for terrorists to attack America if the government can't get my medical records.

I wish things were that simple. Politicians want you to think things are that simple, that way they can get people to believe things that aren't true.

Here is a short list of un-truths told, based on votes for bills with many facets and details:

Democrats are against listening to terrorist's calls (a lie)
Democrats are against the Patriot Act (a lie)
Democrats are against the interrogation of terrorists (a lie)
Democrats are for late-term abortion (a lie)
Democrats are for amnesty for illegal immigrants (a lie)

If you believe any of these things to be true, then you missed the details of each of these issues, and you have been conned. If you are truly interested as to why these are lies, I'd be happy to explain why.

They will vote against anything put forward by a Republican. If a Republican sponsored a bill stating that Democrats were great, they'd find fault with it.

Greater Defeat Than Vietnam"

A report in the online publication World Net Daily says some leaders of terrorist organizations are openly encouraging Americans to vote for Democrats… in order to hasten a U.S. troop withdrawal from Iraq.

Jihad Jaara — a senior member of the Palestinian Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigade — says "of course Americans should vote Democrat." He went on to say a withdrawal from Iraq would mark the beginning of the collapse of what he called the U.S. "tyrant empire" — and would deal the US "a greater defeat than Vietnam."

Abu Ayman — a leader of Islamic jihad in Jenin — tells World Net Daily he is "emboldened" by Americans who compare Iraq to Vietnam. And the senior leader of that Palestinian group — says Democratic predictions that a withdrawal would end the insurgency are incorrect — and that a pullout would "prove the resistance is the most important tool — and that this tool works."

The problem, of terrorists, was and is still being created by Bush and his administration. He attacked Iraq, and now the U.S., along with everyone else, has to contend with this problem. Are we safer here in the states? No one can answer that because this administration has not shown it can protect the U.S. from within. So the answer to your question would have to be "why are Republicans making it easier" etc. Get out of Iraq and protect our country here from inside the U.S.

Liberals don't "making it easier" for terrorists to attack America. The un-Patriot act is not about protecting the nation against terrorist attacks, it is about the Republicans making themselves immune to prosecution for illegal and unconstitutional abuse of executive power.

Hey, retard....The Patriot Act is'nt the motivation for terrorists. The terrorists are, and have been motivated to commit acts of terror, only because of George Bush, and other Republicans. That a--hole created their motivation. It's all his fault. George Bush is an America hater/philthy traitor.
