I can see that you, like me are trying to wind these people up - works every time. If you ask me it's better that he learns now - he'll be less surprised later on.

First you should talk to your son and explain to him that the word is not nice and you made a mistake when you said it and you will never do it again. Just talk to him and try and make him understand that he can not say that word under any circumstances if you keep talking to him about it he will start to understand that he is not to say the word. Your wife should assist you in getting him to understand that saying this word is wrong and not revolve around the mistake you made it will only complicate things and I am sure one of you will end up teaching him a new word in the mist of your arguing. You have to have a united front in order for him to fully understand what is going on.

Explain to your son that you were wrong to teach him a swearword. You don't really want him growing up handicapped in language skills. Only the lowest class of people use swear words. And then it is frequently because they are so limited in language skills.

And you are proud of yourself? Obviously you do not know anything about parenting and therefore you should not be a parent. What kind of stupid thing is that to do? Save your bad words for the guys, or better...... don't say them at all. If you continue, I could only imagine that your son will be calling you the swearwords.............

Look, it was wrong to swear in front of him, but u can tell her that: "I'm not a saint, and I do wrong, and it just slipped". You're the man, not her, so you're in charge, not her...of course no offence, but it's an easy problem to solve, just show your kid that the word is very bad, through an acted play between u and ur wife.
And I really didn't mean anything about her underestimation.
good luck.

Why did u teach your son a swear word?
I would tell u not to tell ur wife. Instead, tell ur son u made a mistake by teaching him the swear word and explain why its bad and tell him not to use it. YOur wife doesn't have to know.

WHY not try explaining it to your son, why you think that he needs to know how to swear.
WHY his friends are prevented from playing with him any more because he swears.
WHY (probably) He gets a telling off by his teacher, grandparents etc..
and finally, WHY his Daddy makes a very sad ROLE MODEL for him.

Be honest. Tell her waht you have done. She will most likely be angry but she will get over it. Trust me...when my kid learned his first swear I freaked out but it really was not that big of a deal. It takes about 3 weeks to break a toddler from saying the bad word.

Get a grip of yourself, there's enough crap being spoken in society today and you should be discouraging such behaviour, instead of promoting it,
Explain it to your wife the same way you did before.

Not really a need to explain it to your wife she will eventually hear it and if you say it alot she will just assume the kid overheard you say it. She may get a little pissed but what can you do kids will be kids.
