It would last a lifetime. I would also make sure my true friends were well off.

G'day nofearintrepid,

Thank your for your question.

I would pay off my mortgage which means that I would be able to live without paying for shelter. That is $70,000.

I would then invest the rest conservatively. If I earn 5% a year roughly, that is $46,000 a year. Together with my salary that is $100,000 grand a year.

If I was taxed 50% roughly, (it probably wouldn't be quite that much) I would have $430,000. At 5%, that would earn me $21,500 a year which would increase over time given the power of compound interest.

Both sums would be nice nest eggs.

Regards

Hand it over, turn me loose at Amazon.com, and you'll see how fast I can wipe out a hundred thousand or so....(probably overnight).

Normally, I'd invest it (after paying off some bills)....but if I HAD to spend it? (as opposed to giving it away) ---even paying off the mortgage, student loans, and cars....it would probably take at least six months, really.

And for being alive 2 days from now?---who knows, but my inheritors would be awfully happy....
