I think they "think less" in terms of their opportunities and what they can achieve. The U.S. has so many opportunities that pretty much anyone can make it to at least a lower middle class position just by working at it.
But I also agree that there is a lot of the "genetic mentality" of learning to live off welfare.
Go figure.

Well I am not sure what you mean by thinking poor. If you mean that they think they will always be that way I would say that most do think like that because they have never known anything different. The other problem is some don't know how to change what is going on and some just don't care enough to change it.
I know several people that won't take a job that they don't like even if it means more money and a possibility of something that would be better in the future.

A lot of times it has to do with the family you were born in to. If the father and mother are slack than more than likely the children will be too. Any one can become successful but i think it all starts at home.

no way kid !!!!! if u think poor, and become poor, the we'd have the largest number of millionaires in the world.
people r poor coz the number of people outnumber the number of avenues in which u can earn. there can only be so many lawyers, doctors, teachers, farmers...................... some people just get left out in the process.
