Most airlines will not let you fly past 36 weeks without a written doctor's consent if you are having a normal pregnancy and aren't at risk for preterm labor. If you are at high risk for anything, you will need your doctor's consent. But even if you're having a normal pregnancy, it's still a wise idea to ask your doctor if flying is ok. I flew at 8 months pregnant without a written doctor's consent. Nobody at the airlines asked me anything and i was clearly showing. The only discomfort i found was my ankles got very, very swollen.

Airlines are sometimes unwilling to carry women who are past their 28th week of pregnancy because of the risk of premature labour. Ticket agents won't ask if you're pregnant when you book a seat, but you could be questioned about your due date at the gate. In fact, an airline can bar you from travel if they are worried about how pregnant you are. To avoid delays -- and more importantly, to confirm it's safe for you to fly -- get written permission to fly from your doctor. The letter should state that you have been examined and are not likely to go into labour in the next 72 hours.

most airlines will let you fly with out a doc. cert. up to 26/8 weeks (check with the airline) after that you will need a letter from you doctor when you check in for the flight saying that it is ok to fly.
my last flight was at 36 weeks (2.5 hrs), and i wouldn't recommend it.... the effects where odd, in the sense i felt light headed and disorientated.

I went on a plane to Hawaii from AR, and I was 34 weeks prego, and you know what? NO ONE ASKED ME A DARN THING!!! NOT ONE PERSON QUESTIONED HOW FAR ALONG I WAS OR ANYTHING!!!! (and I was HUGE, too- I gained 60 lbs!!!) So, do what your doc thinks is good for you, take your situation and yours & your baby's safety into consideration, but do what feels right to you!!!
