Because Holidays eventually become an excuse to party and act irresponsible and voting would not be increased. Why not change Election day to Veterans Day or Memorial Day and take voting seriously? If you really want to vote you will! People need to stop making excuses and vote!

Maybe because many people leave town on a holiday and the whole idea behind an election is to get people to vote which is hard to do if you leave town.

That's a good idea; but then again, to some people holidays are just days off of work and they don't celebrate the reason for the holiday. When was the last time you were drinking a toast to Washington or Columbus on their days? =)

whats so hard about voting on Tuesday,i get up at 12:00 am to go to work(am a truck driver) and come home anytime after 12:00pm,and on my way home stopped to vote,took 15 min. tops how much more time do you need you get a lunch hour do you not,early voting polls stay open past 5:00pm,whats the problem,i think its just another liberal excuse for not accepting that Americans do not want what they are selling.
