Hi. I recently asked a question regarding the point of these riddiculous creatures, although now I would like to know that since they only seem to emerge in September, what do they do for the rest of the year? Where do they hide? How do they survive the winter and snow etc.? Please enlighten me!

(PS. Stupid answers are welcome...)

they're extremely round all 3 hundred and sixty 5 days round, they reproduce contained in the mid summer months and are lively each and every of the season lengthy. you may want to in hardship-free words word them contained in the fall because abruptly they're close to homes searching for a warmth position to over iciness. Take a walk contained in the woods any time in the course of the summer and examine the bottom of leaves and in leaf clutter, you'd be shocked what percentage you'll discover! Harvestmen or Daddy lengthy legs belong contained in the order Opiliones. wish this helps!

Once they emerge they mate as quickly as possible because they only live for about 3 days. The females lay their eggs in the ground where the young larvae wait until spring. They feed on roots, damaging crops, before emerging as live adults in the late summer to start the process all over again.!

They live in the ground as little insects called leatherjackets before emerging to live a whole glorious day as a daddy long legs.
There they lie in the ground just waiting for the moment to emerge and finally prove their true evil intent. All those years of us thinking what pointless insects they were while they gathered intelligence on us, our houses, our movements.

Oh how they are laughing right now!

They do nothing for the rest of the year as the ones you saw in september are now all dead. But before they died they mated and laid their eggs in the ground which will be born next september. I know what you mean though i hate them and they are so pointless.

Tomorrow I GO to a mass funeral for this years dead crane flies, millions of them, all legless after their drink up prior to their wake, a very sad affair, but they have put their babies in the ground, all wearing leather jackets to keep them warm in winter, so roll on next summer.

They lay there eggs and die. And then there spawn come back to you and fly round your house being a pain in the butt then if u dont kill them they mate and die, then those babies come back and its a vicious circle of annoyance.
