I can only say your last resort before removing the doorstop molding is to insert a thin flexible credit card between the jamb and the latch, pushing the latch in and out of the strike plate. After the door is open, buy a better lock or a passage type (no locking mechanism).
good luck

The only thing I can think of, aside from wrecking the door, is to try using a credit card to slip between the casing and the lock. If this doesn't work I'm afraid you're screwed.

Are the hinges on the side of the door that you're on? If so, take them off and open the door that way...if not, break the window, it might be cheaper to replace it than the door..and with instructions, you can replace the window yourself,,maybe.

It depends on what type of lock you have. I would suggest you take a bread knife and carefully pry out the wood trim strip alongside the door.where the lock is.
Then take the bread knife or a thin spatula and work it back and forth to release the latch.

Is there a small hole by the knob? You can stick a screwdriver in and unlock it that way.
