I know that cloning of is a very controversial subject. What advances would it provide for our society. I don't need to know reasons why it is could be bad.

It could open up reproductive possibilities for sterile couples. It could help reduce instances of genetic diseases such as Down's Syndrome or sickle cell anemia. Switching tracks a little, cloning individual organs (not whole humans) could help improve transplant stock, not only by creating more organs for transplant, but also by cutting down on instances of organ rejection.

Remember, though: no one is talking about actually cloning humans these days. Those genetic experts who are involved in cloning projects are either concerned with animals, organs, or single-cell organisms. Hope this helps put the question into a little bit of perspective!

Medical treatments. Cloning could provide organs for transplant with no danger of rejection and it looks like cloning could help in the treatment of a wide range of conditions. This would require only parts of humans to be cloned rather than a whole person.

I think cloning is a bad idea because it is an attempt to change nature so that a bunch of people can try and have control over it. Will definitely have adverse effects, the first cloned sheep died in a short time because it aged quicker that expected.

We'd never have to worry about organ transplants, blood transfusions or lack of food again. Cloned cows are extra chewy and green.

But really, cloning whole creatures is stupid. What you could do is clone your kiddneys when you need new ones, or clone cow muscle and have the perfect steak.

I could make a clone and use it to do all of the necessary evils in life that I hate doing. (Going to work, cleaning, doing the yardwork, visiting annoying in-laws, etc.)
