Registered Nurse Here; I don't believe there is just one remedy for cramps. For each individual is different and unique in there on way, what may work for one doesn't necessarily work for another. Having said that, here's several possible solutions with alone or incombination. First of all Stree, Fatigue, Lack of Sleep, Over working, will enhance most cramps. Therefore try to take care of yourself during this phase of the month especially. Also, Ibuprofen for pain is excellent, Ibuprofen is a non-steriod anti-inflammatory. Not only does it assist with pain but also helps reduce any inflammation that may be present. Iburofen is pretty hard on the stomach, take with food, also don't take aspiren within 4 hours of having taking iburofen, it won't harm you, it just won't do much good. For these two medications sort of cancel out the effects of the other one. Also E.S. Tylenol is good, providing you don't have any liver problems. Also if your at home and can lie down, a heating pad to the lower abdomen, usually offers, gentle warmeth and less the cramps considerably. If none of these work, there if always the GYN physician, who can prescribed medication to relieve the cramps, many are non norcatic, so it would be up to you and your physician to decide what would best benefit you. In today's society, with medical advancement and technology, you shouldn't have to suffer so with monthly menastrual cycle. Thanks for the opportunity to address your question.

advil(ibiprofin) , vitamin E(water retention), B6(is a hormone balance), calcuim(muscle cramp).
heating pad, or hot water bottle, and a lot of rest. oh..also a good maxi pad. Other than that, there is no remedy for our period that us women have to go through so men can have a child. It sucks, but we have to live with it.

Hormone birth control. Sometimes on the first day of bleeding I still have to take 200mg ibuprofin. Before I was on cramps, I'd take 800mg ibuprofin the first day.

I try to really avoid salty foods a few days before I know i'm going to start. if you try it, it really does seem to make a difference in reducing bloating and cramping. a hot bath is great too.
