By understanding how incredibly expensive a cell phone is. Start by investigating the costs, do some comparisons. Is it cheapest to get family phones added on? Tell them that. Can you get someone to give you an old one from craigslist? Maybe that will do it. What are you willing to give up in order to gain a cell phone?
This will be very useful when you start unending nagging for a car.

wow that is awkward they let you go out to alot of places but they don't let you have a cellphone.Anyways the best thing you can tell them is that you need the cell in case of an emergency. You can also tell them that when you are out you would like them to know where you are at. be a suck up sooner or later they will give it to you if you keep insisting.

Get your own cell. A tracphone only costs about $20 for the phone, and you can buy cards pretty cheap. Do it yourself first with your own money and show how responsible you are with that.

Get one yourself. That will make your parents see you as making your own decision (hence making you even more responsible for making your own cell phone payments!) Just go and get a pre-paid. That way you can buy your own minutes and your parents won't have another bill on their shoulders.

If you were my child, I'd start you off with a prepaid phone that way you can show how responsible you are by buying the cards and doing it yourself then you can go from there.

Stop being so responsible
they feel they can trust you too much and therefore feel you don't need a cell for them to keep track of you.
I say start being bad, come home late allot and don't call
that should get them to change their mind fast.
Or you can always ask them nicely
but thats boring.
