When are left wing bleeding heart liberals going to realize that a minimum wage job is an entry level job, its not made for people wanting to make a retirement plan out of the stupid thing, its a START! What do you not get about that???? If you don't like the job you do, in your off time you look for other, higher paying jobs! Ignorant libturds trying to make sure some people retire from the Mcdonalds counter.......dumb a-s-s's

Can you possibly be more of an arrogant prick? You have never actually had to really work to support yourself, have you? Just because jobs are low-paying, it does not mean that they are "easy". Many people work minimum-wage jobs because that is all that they are qualified for, or those are the only jobs that they have available to them, for whatever reasons. Many of these jobs involve strenuous manual labor and long hours. Most of the people working these jobs are working their butts off just to survive, and are often trying to support families, so they don't have time to "go out and create real skills for themselves". On the other hand, there are lots of us who worked minimum wage jobs while supporting ourselves and paying for school who wished that the minimum wage was higher back when it was only $4 an hour. Most people making minimum wage are struggling to survive because they have no choice. You need to pull your head out of your useless spoiled @ss and get a clue.

Kurt Warner was a stockboy at the 7-11 trying to make ends meet.
There's not a one of us who'd rather be sweeping floors or making fries all day for $7.25 an hour vs. what we do. The lowest paying jobs have the longest hours, the most grinding work, and the worst working conditions. And we all know that.
Contrast someone working 3 jobs to make ends meet at low wages vs. someone making tens of thousands on their bond holdings, or getting $800,000 bonuses for their "hard work".
While this work may not require an IQ of 180, neither does President of the US apparently.
Anyway, the real argument *is* giving more money to the people who are working hard on their skills -- the middle class. They are the ones who take the shaft from the upper-class. Minimum wage is about affording HARD WORKING Americans (aka *not* on welfare) a chance to live near the poverty line in return for their efforts. It also gives them more opportunity to break out of the cycle of poverty.
One thing is clear from your comments: you are clearly overpayed based on your intellectual merit.

many minimum wage jobs are strenuous, exhausting and thankless. there are many people working those jobs because those jobs are more willing to adjust the schedule when the employee needs it, due to children having days off school, spouse having to go out of town for his job, etc. many reasons why people take minimum wage jobs. ever hear of over qualified? there are people hired in minimum wage jobs who have skills other than the ones they are using. just cant find better paying jobs that can accommodate their childrens schedule etc. they should be respected. if you are so against it, perhaps you should avoid using their services and dont eat at fast food places or shop where employees get paid minimum wage. you should be grateful to them for being there for YOU and not making much to boot. besides, what is it telling us that a government has to make a law stating an employer CAN NOT PAY LESS than the minimum wage, because believe you me, many WOULD pay less if they could get away with it! good luck :)

no one, and i repeat, no one, wants to make minimum wage. people making minimum wage are WELL below the poverty line in america. the current minimum wage ($7.15 an hour), when working full time comes out to $286 a week. Grocerys generally cost between $80 - $120. average rent for an aparment in my home state, NJ,per month is $400. These people are not washington fatcats who beat the system.

no is my answer-french fries helping students pay for education-checking people out at walmart single mothers trying to take care of children and elderly who have worked all their lives trying to stay above water, sweping floores at high schools are pretty good paying jobs with benifits.from middle class down everything is going up but ,pay checks. for those who make minium wage it should be raised to 8.00$to 9.00$ with affordable medical. are you one of those people living off from mommy's and daddy's money? it would explain your unrealistic attitude . it takes all kinds of people to make the world go around.

You must not have worked in a fast food place. *I* have an easy job physically though it is much tougher mentally. Low wage jobs are not easy.

manual labor is by far, more difficult than sitting at a cubical or whatever it is that you do, I'm sure of it. you're arrogant and i only wish you had to work a couple of weeks at burger king or stocking shelves at walmart. just sit in your cubicle and judge, that's what you do best, I'm sure.
some people are smart and they cant afford college, they don't have mommies and daddies to pay for it. so they do what they can to support their families.
PS, my resume includes, burger king, McDonald's, greenhouse worker, US army and now mother and college student
