There is a tag that came with the jeans that is in Japanese, I think there is a special way of caring for them but I have no idea wat I need to do. I only mention that they are Japanese b/c I think they use a different type of denim or something.

Turn them inside out and wash them in cold water on permanent press. Tumble dry on low or permanent press. Good Luck.

This question has two possible answers.
1. If they are pre-shrunk, always was inside out in cold water - and as little as possible.
2. If they are raw denim (ring-spun - you should be able to tell by how coarse and stiff they feel) you should wash them to fit you. Remember the old Levi's ad with the guy taking a bath in his jeans? You should do this for your first wash - cold bath, salt, and half an hour. Emerge, take them off, and hang them. Denim is a fabric with a 'memory'. When they dry, they'll be formed to you. For further washing, follow the above answer.

If they are cotton, you could probably wash like normal. But, You could start out using cold water on gentle wash. Tumble dry on low.
