I will probably be going to Jamaica at the end of the month. I would be flying into Montego bay but I would like to go to Negril. Is there transportation from MoBay to Negril and how expensive is it? Are there nice, decently priced places to stay in Negril? I want to stay somewhere within walking distance to cool places like restaurants, markets, etc. Is it safe to drink the water? Any advice would help, I've never been to Jamaica!

Shaz has a point, don't worry about water quality as practical all cruise liners that go there replenish there water on board with water from the island,Jamaica was called(spanish) Xyamaica,Meaning land of wood and water,so nothing really to worry about.

There are lots of resorts in Mont ego Bay and Negril. I will give you a few links to research. I live in the Cayman Islands and visit Jamaica regularly. Some resorts offer free airport transfers. Otherwise prices range from $50 to $150 and it's usually on an air conditioned bus. It's a good bet to go with an all inclusive resort as the staff can tell you pretty much anything you want to know and there are many authorized tours that you can buy from them as well.

I just went to Montego Bay on a cruise and I went zip lining. It was so much fun!!! Yes, and I would love to visit Negril and stay in one of those hotels that is built into the rocks. Like Rockhouse or The Caves. I have never been to Jamaica for an extended period of time. Just on cruises...
