you probably have windows 98 or so.. got to programs, accesories, system tools, system information.. there u shud find ur motherboard model
search manufacturer's site for info abt types of ram supported
you can even get the number by opening the case and looking at labels of motherboard...
by my guess you have sdram...there are 2 types of it.. u will probably need a qualified person or some friend knowlwdgeable enough to find ur type and u should add the same kind of memory
best is got to the shop where u gonna buy ur new ram and ask the person to fix it...lolz
mail for more info

There are various methods. Try websites such as www.crucial.com or www.4allmemory.com, but the most reliable way is to look up your motherboard's specification, in the manual you received with the motherboard/PC. It will have a list of names, and the section you want is 'Memory'. It will list the compatible memory types. For example, for my motherboard the compatible types are: 440/333 MHz DDR memory modules. Then look on the internet or visit your favourite hardware store and ask for that type of internet.

from the specs you have supplied ,i can tell you that you will need pc133 sdram for your computer
as this memory is quite inexpensive to buy depending on the amount of avalible memory banks(slots),i would recomend you upgrade to at least 256mb,this would only cost you around £25 to £35 to buy and the performance increase would be amazing as you are running at the bare minimunm at the moment ,and even windows 98 struggles with this amount of ram,
memory is one of the best and cheapest upgrades you can do for your p.c and once you have upgraded your ram why not go for a graphic card upgrade, you will find that your p.c has probally got a old agp slot( x2,x4) and there are still a few very good graphic cards avalible for your p.c,there is the ati radeon 9250 and the nvidia geforce fx5200
for a complete system check to get your exact memory upgrade go to http://www.crucial.com/,and scan your p.c ,this will give you a report on what upgrades you need to buy for your system and you can buy straight from crucial if you want to
any problems let me know
good luck

If you do as has already been suggested and go to http://www.crucial.com you can scroll part way down the first page and install their 'Crucial System Scanner' (It's on the right hand side of the page), it will tell you what memory you need, and whether or not you have any empty slots.

Of course, you don't need to purchase from Crucial. Just make a note of the information offered to you.

Best of luck.

you should know your motherboard model, at system start up on bios Screen, you can find your motherboard model, or you can open your case and find your motherboard name, then it's easy to tell you which type of RAM you should get

Right click on my computer, go to hardware - device manager. In that, check out the kind of RAM you have - it would be SDRAM or DDRAM.
