Check that you have a default email system set up within your browser. Craigslist keeps anonymity but relies on the browser knowing your email, userid etc. If you're using a public computer that's shared, you can't respond directly.

In those cases, I cut the email address from the ad. Then I go to my email system and compose and email and paste the email address from the ad. It's helpful to the person who posted the ad if you can cut-and-paste the subject line as well. If they have several ads, it will go directly thru.

In IE browser, you can see which email system is configured by
looking at Tools, Internet Options, and then the Programs Tab. If the email drop downs don't match any email addresses you have, then you'll need to do the cut and paste method.

Yeah what she said ... but sometimes people who place ads totally forget that they had previously selected the option of not allowing e-mails from craigslist and then sit there wondering why they aren't getting any responses.

In that case, you should post an ad in the same category directed to the person who placed the original ad telling them that they need to fix this. They will see it when they are browsing other ads and wondering why they aren't getting any responses.
