My family is in a debate as to whether it is okay to She's got it. I believe it should be, "She has it." I am looking for the proper way and the reason why.

Well, that comes out to be She has got it. Which is, while technically correct, not well spoken. She has it is better English. "She has got it" is passive, not declarative.

In normal conversation, it's fine. If you're going to chat with the Pope, pick something else.
