My flatmate and I have been discussing capes- why exactly were they invented? What practical purpose do they serve? And why do superheroes always wear them?

P.S. Does anyone else think that 'cape' is a really funny word?
P.P.S. We haven't even started drinking yet- I think we might need to soon!

Yea cape is a funny word. I think people wear them to make them different and better than everyone else. I don't see the point in them though they get in the way, they get caught on things and they look stupid. But I suppose superheros are used to looking stupid what with wearing their underwear on the outside and all.

The perfect way to hide those loose bits. And not as funny as an Anorak.

Actually, if you say ANY word enough times out of context, it sounds funny.

I'd have thought they were worn to protect against wind and rain, but they do look pretty silly nowadays
