the pill just can sometimes increase the frequency of migraines. there is no risk to your health. but if your migraines get bad enough for you to worry you could stop taking the pill.

My neurologist told me that the estrogen in birth control pills can irritate headaches. He recommended that I switch to a solely progestin based birth control like micronorm. If that doesn't work for you, try to track other possible triggers of your migraines. If you find that your personal trigger is something that is unavoidable, then you might be a candidate for preventive migraine medicine.

Consult with your doctor about it. Different pills affect people differently. If the one you're on now, isn't the right one for you...maybe they can change it. If you only get migraines occasionally, it may not be a big problem.

Hi! Everybody is different of course but I get migranes and I was on the pill. It was horrendous for me! I used to get migranes for about 2 weeks straight!! It really was terrible. So, I switched to the NuvaRing and I only get a migrane when I'm stressed out or not eating right. If you don't know too much about the NuvaRing, check it out! I've got the link for you. Good luck!
