They don't believe that he slipped up. They are just making excuses because their way of thinking was exposed. They hate the military pure and simple. Maybe if we hug the terrorists and give them ice cream they will back off.

Because they're desperate for a win, and they know that Kerry's hateful blast at the troops is a shot in the arm for the Republican campaign. Dems & libs are spinning like a top and will say ANYTHING to take attention off of Kerry and his stupid remarks!

Like somebody said recently ~ Kerry is the only candidate who can lose a campaign when he's not even running for office.

I have to refer you to Stephen Colbert for this one--

From Comedy Central's "Quote of the Day"
Stephen Colbert on Senator John Kerry's speech:

"The senator tried to explain it all away by saying he was actually making a joke about the president, but he just botched the joke by leaving out the word 'us'... Where would you put the word 'us'? 'If you don't make an effort to be smart, you get US stuck in Iraq'? Does anyone understand that?"

I'm convinced!

Do the the competence test he failed in responding to other made up Karl Rove lies during the last election to which he was seeking the Presidency.

Also, do to the fact that he held a gun, in Viet Nam, and took care of troops, under fire, unlike the wingnut that donned a space suit to declare "Mission Complete."

Why can't Republicans figure out what a "joke" is?

And why won't any of them tell me why Bush responded faster and more thoroughly to Kerry's joke than to Hurricane Katrina?

As much of a dufus as he is, Kerry actually spoke the truth:
how many politicians' kids do you see serving in Iraq? NONE!
They're all holed up in ivy-league colleges, protected from the dangers of Bush's stupid folly.
Only kids who can't go to college, or don't work hard enough to stay in college, get "stuck in Iraq".
Then Kerry says his remarks were a 'botched joke' and the Republicans get their shorts in a knot. They apparently don't hear George W. Bush 'botch' jokes or crucify the English language almost every single time he speaks publicly. -RKO-

i am a registered democrat and i most certainly do not think he slipped up, nor -RKO- do i believe that the people "stuck in iraq" are uneducated.

my husband is "stuck in iraq" and he has a college degree, most of the people i know in the military do have at least some college, no - not all of them graduated, but that's not why they are in the military - they feel a duty to country. evidently some people just feel they are better and want to be able to say it. you are not better than those in the military - get over yourselves! my husband's father was "stuck in [japan]" he was college educated, his mother was "stuck in" a few wars and she is college educated, my grandfather was "stuck in [germany]" and he too was college educated.

I don't know. I have respect for humans that make mistakes and can admit they were wrong and made a mistake. Strange, the Bush can't admit he was wrong, ever. I think that contributes to why I don't respect or trust him.
