Probably waiting tables in some restaurant, which is where most "budding" actresses end up. She needs more help than YOU can give her. She needs experience, acting workshops, connections, community theater experience, more connections, a professional portfolio, more experience, and an agent.

The only place to be discovered is in an audition. Do not believe the media propaganda about people being discovered in a coffee shop. I challenge anyone to tell me one time that has ever happened. And if you think you have one, go on IMDb, look up the person, and notice all the hard work they did in films before they git "discovered." They might have met someone important in a coffee show, but if they hadn't been working for years before, it wouldn't have happened.
As for extra work, not a great way. Yes, you might get a line thrown at you, and get is a credit, which is nice, but once they see you as an extra, that's usually all they see you as.
