Before doing anything of what I suggest bellow, do a thorough scan for Viruses, spy ware and al that undesirable parasites that infect computers.
THOROUGH CLEANUP
While you are on your Dad's PC connect to the Internet and do the following:
1. Click on tools ... Internet options. There you will see three buttons next to each other... "Delete Cookies" ... "Delete Files" and "Settings." Also, below the settings button you will see another one "Clear history."
2. Click on "settings" - go to "Edit" - Click on "select all" - Go to files and click delete. and wait till all garbage is gone.
3.Go back and click on "delete cookies" and wait till gone
4. Go back and click on "Delete files" put a check mark on the little square shown on the small window that will open and click OK and wait for a little.
5. Go back and click on "Clear history", click “yes” and you are done.
6. Now do a check disk and a defrag and restart your computer and see if the problem is gone.
7. If the problem persists, get on the internet and look in the Yahoo search for Tune-Up Utilities 2006 site, go to that site and download their free trial program, familiarize your self with it and use it to clean up your registry automatically. It is an excellent little program and does wonders with PC maintenance tasks.
8. If all of the above do not correct the problem, go to windows updates and download the new Microsoft Browser 7. But you must be careful because I hear and read that you need to be real careful in configuring it. Otherwise you may create more problems.
Good luck

You can try Firefox without uninstalling Explorer and see how it goes. It has a popup stopper and there's no need to uninstall Explorer.
there seem to be two versions of Firefox, both different from each other, the one you get from here can play yahoo videos:

It could be a nasty trojan virus. I had a similar problem a few months ago. Try 'www.majorgeeks.com' they have a good resource on how to eliminate viruses and spyware. Work through the steps. I did, and my problem is gone! (Of course, it could be something else, this is just a problem I have experienced).
