okay, so you know how scrollbars can be...i dont know what you'd call it...skinned(?) in internet explorer for websites?

well, firefox doesnt recognize those commands (coded in CSS) but are there any workarounds, patches/updates that will give it this functionality? it's not vital, but it bugs me every time i visit my site & i refuse to revert back to using internet explorer.

thanks!

I believe there is an HTML code for changing the color of scrollbars.

The reason firefox doesn't recognize the command is it's not a recognized CSS command - it's one that microsoft allowed for use in internet explorer, and coded for, and told the world about, but the W3c (worldwide web consortium) doesn't recognize it.

EDIT: Wait, nevermind. It can't be done. Apparently gecko-based browsers don't allow changing scrollbar colors. See the link below.

I think there are certain sacrifices and compromises to be made in web design when considering Firefox, and this is one of the issues as you've discovered.

I think the real answer is to make up for the plain "look" of Fox by adding Flash items to your web page, especially Flash I-Frames which can be made very colorful and interactive (including the scrollbars). Flash is obviously not browser-specific, which is its great asset.

Get a program called Swish - and get colorful and dynamic with Flash elements in your page - forget about the main browser scrollbar.

It may take you a little while to learn Swish, but you'll love the results - plus it's affordable, unlike the full McMedia Flash. Take a look at my web site, which was created with SwishMax - feel free to borrow ideas if you like!
