Had it done when I was in high school over ten years ago. It hurt and was sore for a few weeks, but I was fine within a few months. The only time I have problems with it is if I haven't worked out in a while. Most injuries and surgeries do better if you stay active after the recovery period. Listen to your DR and take some time off, but I bet you will be fine soon enough.

Had the same thing done 8 years ago. The pain subsides in months at the max. Always avoid walkin gon uneven surfaces like the beach to avoid any future stress on the knees. also turn your body instead of trying to pivot with your knees.
