Blue painters tape (3M brand is best) Duct tape will stick better, but you will have a tough time getting the glue off the paint later.

If it's going on the paint and you want the plastic to stick in cool temperates, try clear packing tape. when your ready to change the window warm up the area where the tape is a n peel it iff take the reidue of the tape of using a good wax.

Painters tape? Sure, if you want it to last about four seconds. Get some gaffers tape. It's like duct tape but comes in colors and is made not to harm anything you use it on or leave residue behind.

go to a napa auto parts store or any auto parts store that mixes
auto paint, there may be a a store in your area that specializes
in auto paint, most small cities have them. or ask a body shop
they can tell you where you can pick up automotive masking
tape.
this stuff sticks very well and dos`nt harm the paint when it is removed

Nothing that will stay there going down the highway! Call your insurance company and get the window fixed! There's usually no cost associated with comprehensive claims.
