The site looked like a train station and you ate in old train cars. Went there as a kid in 1970's and ate the grilled hot dog.

It sounds as if that was one of the "Carney's" chain. There were additional train cars in Glendale and on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood. There may have been other ones around Southern California, too.
Their hot dogs were delicious! They also prided themselves on cutting fresh lettuce and slicing fresh tomatoes for their hotdogs and hamburgers on an hourly basis.
