If I got something that I thought would be appropriate for someone else and its in bought condition why not? As long as its for someone who wont ever find out from the person who gave it to you - I see absolutely nothing wrong with it - as long as you actually believe the person will like it and its not just a cheap ornament or something just to get out of buying a present.

I have on occasion if for some reason I am backed into a corner to give a gift to someone I don't care for. But, if it's someone I care for, unless I have received a gift that would just be PERFECT for them instead, I do not regift. It really is the thought that counts.

My mom is a pro at X-mas, she'll make a list of what she gets from each side of the family and if there is something she doesn't need, she'll give it to someone on the other side the following year.
Considering the size of our family ( Dad has 8 brothers and sisters, Mom has about the same, I am one of eight) and with all the cousins, etc. this saves her alot of money.

never. i'm always afraid i'll give the gift back to the person who gave it to me. if i didn't like what i got, i use it long enough for the person who gave it to me to see it, then either donate it to a thrift store or sell at a flea market. but no, never would i regift.

I never have. If I inadvertently get a gift I can't use, I'll thank them of course and I may pass it on to someone who needs it. But not in "gift" form. I tell them, I got this and I can't use it, would you like it? However, I may or may not tell the original presenter. And I do often hang onto items that I can't use for sentimental reasons.
Peace.

I pass gifts on if they're stuff I don't want/use and can't return; but I don't re-wrap and give as a gift; I just give it to someone I know would use or like it. (Like Sweet Pea from Bath & Body Works, great scent, too sweet for me, so I give it to my young friend who loves it! -- no matter how often I tell M-I-L my favorite B&BW scent, she keeps sending Sweet Pea!)
