Why do people use the anonymity of forums like this to make statements or ask questions they would never make if the person of that statment or question were in front of them?

As has been noted I do use a cyber name, I do however allow people to e-mail me if they want further depth

Oh yeah, and my real name is on my yahoo 360 page, I guess I don't hide as well as I should?

I would have responded to dickn2000 in e-mail but alas no confirmed e-mail address, so here goes.

WhenI was putting together my 360 page I didn't know what half the stuff was so I erred to caution and set it to private then forgot to change it. Cowards don't usually admit mistakes

I think they say whatever they want because they know you can't get to them...you're right. And it is cowardly. I am appalled at the number of people you see on here on a weekday afternoon (just cruise through Polls & Surveys about 3.45) who are like small children who just learn a word, and shout it loud among the adults to see if they can get attention. It's childish and boring. As well as the racist stuff you see. They know they'd get their hinders whooped if they even THOUGHT about saying some of that stuff in person!

maybe because of the fact that you are in cyber space, it causes you to be bold and say things you wouldn't normally say in real life. Unfortunately when people asks questions they are attacked in response without really understanding the question. But that's my opinion

I am very much an open minded and tactful person. That said there is nothing I would ask here that I would not ask in person. And I would not ask something that I myself would not answer or be offended by.

Baby's Mom said it very well.

Some folks, when they know that they can avoid any direct consequences for their actions, allow themselves to be their worst.

I can't say that I really understand it, though; I don't see the attraction of doing it.
